Green Star Polyps is one of the hardiest corals for a reef tank, tolerant of less than ideal conditions, and an excellent choice for a beginner saltwater aquarists.
The Green Star Polyp (Pachyclavularia violacea), commonly referred to as GSP, is also known as starburst polyp, star polyps, daisy polyps and is one of the most hardiest of soft corals. The soft and flexible structures are situated around the mouth of polyps. Those are called tentacles. Star polyps have eight bright fluorescent green color retractable soft tentacles.
Because star polyps are fast-growing species and easy to care for. It is recommended to create an isolated “island”. That would be a separated average-sized rock where only GSP will grow. I don’t recommend mixing GSP with other corals at the same place.
GSP inhabit a wide section in the Indo-Pacific ocean. Covering mainly depths of up to 20 meters. In nature, green star corals can be found both as a single colony and together with other species. It’s native to the Indo Pacific Ocean, including the Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands, where it inhabits rubble areas of reef and lagoons.
Perfect natural conditions include an environment rich in nutrients and weak water flow.
