The Brazilian Flameback Angelfish (Centropyge aurantonotus) also known as the Flameback Pygmy Angelfish and the Fireball Angelfish. They are very similar in color and shape to the African Flameback Angelfish (Centropyge acanthops). The biggest difference being the dark blue caudal fin of the Brazilian Flameback Angelfish.

Common across patches of isolated staghorn coral Acropora cervicornis in the southern Carribean and in the coasts of Brazil. They require a tank of at least 50 gallons, plenty of live rock and open swimming space.

Though they are safe to house with inverts such as Shrimp, Crabs, Snails, and Starfish, they are NOT reef safe as they will pick at large-polyped stony corals, clam mantles and feather dusters.

The diet of the Brazilian Flameback Angelfish should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. Feed three times daily.
