Voodoo Majick Acropora, often referred to as "Voodoo Magic Acropora," is a type of stony coral popular among reef aquarium enthusiasts due to its vibrant and unique coloration. Proper care is essential to ensure its health and growth in a home aquarium. Here's a care guide to help you maintain a thriving Voodoo Majick Acropora coral:

1. Voodoo Majick Acropora Lighting:

Voodoo Majick Acropora corals require strong lighting to thrive. High-quality LED or T5 fluorescent lights with the appropriate spectrum for coral growth are recommended. You'll need to mimic natural sunlight conditions, providing both intense lighting and proper photoperiods.

2. Voodoo Majick Water Parameters:

Maintaining stable and appropriate water parameters is crucial for the health of your coral:

  • Temperature: Keep the water temperature between 74°F to 80°F (23°C to 27°C).
  • Salinity: Maintain a stable salinity level around 1.025.
  • pH: Keep the pH level between 8.1 and 8.4.
  • Alkalinity: Maintain alkalinity levels around 8-10 dKH.
  • Calcium and Magnesium: Keep calcium levels around 400-450 ppm and magnesium levels around 1200-1350 ppm.
  • Nitrate and Phosphate: Low levels of nitrate (around 1-5 ppm) and phosphate (around 0.03-0.1 ppm) are recommended for optimal coral health.

3. Voodoo Majick Acropora Water Flow:

Voodoo Majick Acropora corals thrive in areas with moderate to strong water flow. Use powerheads or wavemakers to create turbulence and ensure all sides of the coral receive adequate water movement. This also helps remove debris and prevent detritus buildup.

4. Voodoo Majick Coral Placement:

Place your Voodoo Majick Acropora coral in the upper to middle regions of your reef aquarium, as it typically prefers higher light conditions. Ensure that it has enough space to expand without touching other corals to prevent potential stinging interactions.

5. Voodoo Majick Acclimation:

When introducing a new coral to your aquarium, acclimate it slowly to your water conditions. A drip acclimation method is commonly used to prevent shock due to sudden changes in water parameters.

6. Feeding:

Voodoo Majick Acropora primarily obtain nutrients through photosynthesis, but they can also benefit from supplemental feeding. Provide small particles of food like zooplankton or specialized coral foods occasionally, especially if you notice the coral's polyps extending to capture food.

7. Monitoring and Maintenance:

Regularly monitor water parameters using appropriate testing kits and make adjustments as needed to maintain stable conditions. Perform regular water changes to replenish essential elements and remove accumulated waste.

8. Disease Prevention:

Maintain excellent water quality and avoid introducing pests and diseases by quarantining new corals before adding them to your main aquarium. Be cautious when introducing new coral frags, as they can potentially introduce unwanted hitchhikers.

9. Patience:

Coral growth is a slow process. Give your Voodoo Majick Acropora time to acclimate and grow in your aquarium. Rapid changes in conditions can stress the coral, so avoid sudden adjustments.

Remember that every reef aquarium is unique, and slight adjustments might be necessary based on your specific setup and conditions. Regular observation, research, and responsiveness are key to successfully caring for Voodoo Majick Acropora and maintaining a thriving reef ecosystem.
